On behalf of our 100+ community partners, we are excited to announce MLK FEST DALLAS 2025

An impactful volunteer service event focused on reducing neighborhood blight and promoting cultural significance through public art and community engagement. Set in the historic Fair Park district of South Dallas. The event features a Saturday, 1/11/25, community cleanup where volunteers, alongside organizations like Miles of Freedom and Code Enforcement, will clean vacant city lots and document the impact.

Blight remediation activities include home renovations in Fair Park through Hearts & Hammers, a 311 reporting blitz to address code issues in the area, and outreach to unsheltered individuals in collaboration with the Office of Homeless Solutions.

Volunteers can also participate in a mural painting inspired by civil rights advocate Mrs. Craft, followed by a resource fair and celebration at the MLK Center with live music, food, and guest speakers.

This event creates an opportunity for volunteers and sponsors to contribute to the beautification and cultural enrichment of South Dallas while honoring the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

Community Cleanup

Help us beautify South Dallas by clearing sidewalks, trimming branches,
and mowing grass. Volunteers will be divided into teams to cover different areas of the
neighborhood.

Registration starts at 8:00 AM, cleanup from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM.

Join local artists and volunteers to create a mural inspired by the legacy
of Juanita Jewel Craft. This mural will serve as a lasting tribute to her work in the Civil Rights
movement.

9:00 AM – 2:00 PM, with a break for lunch.

Join us for lunch, enjoy local food trucks, and connect with fellow volunteers, community members, and activists. This is a great time to share experiences and
plan for the future.
